The Hancock softball team swept the Rothsay Tigers on Thursday night, winning game one 6-4 and taking the nightcap of their double header, 11-2.  Hancock stats have not been reported at this time.

In game one the Owls scored one run in each of the first three innings to take a 3-0 lead.  Rothsay scored twice in the bottom of the third on a double by Elli Mayer and trailed 3-2.  Hancock scored 3 runs in the top of the sixth to take a 6-2 lead and Rothsay got two in the bottom of the seventh on a double by Bethany Danielson but came up just short.  Kinsey Heier (2H) and Savannah Sullivan (2H, SB) led the Tigers at the plate.

Rothsay gave up four first inning runs in the second game and another four runs in the fifth to take control of the game.  Chase Balken and Abby Honer each had a RBI double for the Tigers.  “Our girls made some nice defensive plays tonight against a good hitting Hancock team,” said Rothsay Head Coach Anita Heier.  “It’s fun to watch the growth and development of this team each game.  Our senior leaders Abby Honer and Chase Balken are doing a great job of getting these girls to believe in themselves.”
