Big Night for Rose Leads Owls Past Rothsay

The Hancock Owls improved their record to 3-0 with a 67-12 victory over the Rothsay Tigers on Friday night.  Davin Rose tossed four touchdown passes and returned an interception for a score.

Jackson Koehl was on the receiving end of a 43 yard pass from Rose to start the scoring.  Titus Bjerketvedt caught the two point conversion pass giving Hancock an 8-0 lead.  Rose followed that score with his pick-six and then delivered a two-point conversion pass to Koehl for a 16-0 lead.

Koehl hauled in a one yard pass from Rose to start the second quarter and Rose ran for the two-point conversion as the Owls increased their to 24-0.  A 9-yard run by Rose and a Rose to Bjerketvedt conversion pass put the score at 32-0 and the first half ended with a 40-0 Hancock lead after a 53 yard pass from Rose to Koehl and another Rose two-point run.

Dain Schroeder scored on a one yard run in the third quarter and Chase Evink took the ball over the goal line for the two-point conversion for a 48-0 lead.  A 60-yard kickoff return for a TD by Rothsay made it a 48-6 game, however, Hancock answered with a 40 yard TD pass from Rose and an extra point kick for a 55-6 advantage.

A 90 yard interception return for a TD gave Hancock a 61-6 lead early in the fourth quarter and a Trent Messner 27 yard TD reception form Troy Meissner pushed the lead to 67-6.  Rothsay’s second kickoff return for a TD closed out the scoring at 67-12.

Rose completed 13-of-19 passes for 255 yards and 4 TD’s.  Evink led the rushing attack with 74 yards on 12 carries and Koehl had a team high 134 receiving yards on 5 catches, reaching the end zone 3 times.

No Rothsay stats have been reported.

Hancock (3-0) will face Wheaton/Herman-Norcross (3-0) next Friday night in Wheaton.

Rothsay (1-2) will host Sebeka (2-1).
